Each local commercial radio station in the UK has requirements in respect of its music and local content, such as news, speech levels etc. These requirements are set out in the station "Format", a document issued by Ofcom, the UK's radio regulator.

This Public File contains details of the elements that Ofcom regulate, such as music tracks, local news etc. It is intended to give you a better understanding of our output and what we are doing for our local community.

1. News Bulletin Schedule

Coast 96.3 broadcasts news bulletins on the half-hour between 0600 and 0900 and hourly between 0900 and 1800 on weekdays.
These bulletins are bi-lingual (mixture of English & Welsh) at 0600 and 0630 and additional entire Welsh language headline bulletins are at 1630 and 1730.

The bulletins contain a full mix of local, national and world stories, along with sport, weather and entertainment news. At the weekend, bulletins containing local, national and world news are broadcast on Coast 96.3 between 8:00 and 1300, with bilingual bulletins at 0800 and 0900.

Additional national bulletins are broadcast from 2200 through until 0500 seven days a week. The bulletins contain a full mix of national and world stories, along with sport, weather and entertainment news.

2. Recent News stories covered on air

Coast 96.3 have recently given extensive coverage to the campaign for a Prison in North Wales, from interviews with local Councils and with members of the public to get their views on the idea. A member of the Public who had been in jail said that he supported the idea as his family had had to travel miles to see him.  

Wendy Ellis from Blaenau Ffestiniog, also featured. Wendy was cleared of Murder and Manslaughter after stabbing her Partner to death at their home.  The day after the incident we had a reporter in Blaenau Ffestiniog who gave us voicers from the housing estate where they lived.

Coast 96.3 recently covered the Dolgarrog Aluminium closure where several local people lost their work. Local Councillors and an Assembly Member spoke about the effects the closure was to have on the area. 

A Rhyl performer, Mike Peters has recently conquered Everest, and got into the Guinness Book of Records for performing the highest gig ever. Mike provided an via Satellite after he broke the record.

There are no automated shows within weekdays or weekend daytimes

6. The amount of local programming per day produced by the station

All of Coast 96.3's weekday daytime output (0600-1000 and 1400-1900) and peak time weekend (0600-1000 Saturday, 1200-1900 Saturday, 0600-1400 Sunday) output is produced and presented from our local studios.

Off peak programming (Music Control, Late Night Love, Music on Demand, Party Anthems, The Jeremy Kyle Show, The Entertainment Edge with Ryan Seacrest, hit40uk, The Myleene Klass Show, weekday and weekend mid-mornings) is produced at various studios including sister stations in North Wales or those owned and operated by Coast 96.3's parent company GCap Media plc.

Coast 96.3 is now runnig its annual Big Egg appeal, collecting easter eggs for local disadvantaged children.

All eggs received are distributed to social services, children's wards and hospices.
